Adwumawura Programme

The Adwumawura Programme is a flagship youth entrepreneurship and job creation initiative introduced by the Government of Ghana through the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP). The programme is designed to support young entrepreneurs with training, mentorship, funding, and business development assistance to help them establish and grow sustainable businesses.

The name “Adwumawura” is derived from the Akan language, meaning “business owner” or “entrepreneur,” reflecting the programme’s goal of creating a new generation of business leaders across Ghana.

The programme focuses on empowering young people between the ages of 18 and 35 by helping them transform innovative business ideas into successful enterprises. It seeks to address unemployment by promoting entrepreneurship as a pathway to economic independence and national development.

Under the programme, beneficiaries receive:

  •  Comprehensive entrepreneurship training
  •  Business incubation and acceleration support
  •  Mentorship from experienced industry professionals
  •  Access to startup capital and funding opportunities
  •  Business advisory and technical support
  •  Networking opportunities with investors and partners

The Adwumawura Programme targets various sectors of the economy, including:

  •  Agriculture and agribusiness
  •  Technology and innovation
  •  Manufacturing
  •  Creative arts and media
  •  Green economy initiatives
  •  Services and trade

One of the key objectives of the programme is to create at least 10,000 businesses annually while generating employment opportunities for thousands of young Ghanaians nationwide. The initiative also aims to strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem by encouraging innovation, creativity, and sustainable enterprise development.

The programme has received strong interest from young entrepreneurs across the country, with many applicants submitting business ideas in areas such as digital services, food processing, fashion, agritech, and renewable energy.

Through Adwumawura, the government hopes to build a resilient private sector led by innovative young entrepreneurs who can contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s economic transformation and long-term development.
